Reinterpretation of the work Abaporu by artist Tarsila do Amaral / 2021
One of the main works from the anthropophagic period of Brazil's modernist movement, Abapuru comes from the Tupi terms aba (man), pora (people) and ú (eat), meaning "man who eats people".
In this reinterpretation I chose to take this meaning to something more symbolic, with the woman represented hugging the cactus in a gesture of acceptance of the things that we eat/erode from within.
